Governor Bandaru Dattatraya visited Ambuja Plant at Darlaghat in Solan district today.Interacting with officials of Ambuja Cement, the Governor said that the company was doing excellent job in water and plastic management and working towards community development while discharging its social obligations. He expressed satisfaction that the company was returning 6.5 times the water used to the society through various means. Similarly, plastics collected from Kangra, Solan, Shimla and Hamirpur was also being destroyed by burning in Klin. He said by supporting health, education and cooperative societies, the industry can fulfil its social responsibility.He also praised contribution of Ambuja to train youth through ITIs. He said that it was a matter of satisfaction that it has provided training to 3494 students through ITI Darlaghat from the year 2007 till now, out of which 1288 were girls students and 1188 have started self-employment and 1757 have got employment opportunities. He appealed to the authorities for further cooperation for skill development.On the occasion, the Governor also planted a Pipal plant in the premises of the Unit.Anupam Agarwal, Unit Head, Ambuja apprised the Governor of various activities of the unit.Later, the Governor also met the members of the Amrit Dhara Milk cooperative society based at Darlaghat. The society is involved in milk and cheese production.Renu Thakur Pradhan, Committee Amrit Dhara Milk cooperative society apprised the governor that the society collected 600 litres of milk daily from nearby villages. The governor appealed to all members of the committee to extend their work of self-reliance.
