A UT-Level programme of Role Play and Folk Song/Dance competitions was organised under the National Adolescence Education Programme (NAEP) by the NAEP Unit of J&K Board of School Education.The aim of the programme was to supplement the curricular mode of education for school students with the vibrant co-curricular mode.The programme was hosted by Govt Higher Secondary School (B) Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, where Prof. Veena Pandita, Chairperson, J&K BOSE was the chief guest of the occasion.In her inaugural speech, Prof Pandita congratulated the participating students, organisers and the host school for whole-hearted participation in the programme.She said that adolescence is a gateway to adulthood and future life of the child which is characterised not only by the physical and psychological growth but is also marked by many challenges.“At this age a positive competitive spirit should also be inculcated to ensure a responsible citizenry. As today’s programme focuses on these twin objectives, I am sanguine that this endeavour shall bear fruitful results,” she added.
Dr. Farooq Ahmad Peer, Director Academics JKBOSE & State Project Director, AEP was the guest of honour, who outlined various objectives of National Adolescence Education Programme in his speech. A total 18 teams participated in the UT level finale from districts of the UT of J&K which were shortlisted in district level competitions organised by respective districts followed by divisional level competitions in two categories viz. ‘Role Play and Folk Song/ Dance Competitions’. The presentations focussed on diverse aspects of the theme viz charms and challenges of adolescence, healthy interpersonal relationships among adolescents, gender equality, respect for elders, protection of environment, nutritious food & well being, personal safety, safe use of internet, gadgets & media literacy and substance/drug abuse & its causes and prevention etc.The teams from Districts Udhampur, Kathua and Rajouri were declared 1st , 2nd, & 3rd in Role Play category whereas the teams from Districts Udhampur, Rajouri & Reasi stood 1st, 2nd & 3rd in Folk Song/Dance completion respectively. The 1st two winning teams in both the categories will participate at National Level Competition to be held at New Delhi with effect from 3rd to 6th December 2019.Prof. Abdul Wahid Makhdoomi, Joint Secretary Publications & IT; Dr. Sudhir Singh, Joint Secretary Secrecy; Altaf Hussain, Joint Secretary Examination; Tripta Kumari Jt.
