A delegation led by Senior Lawyer S.K. Rungta, General Secretary National Federation of the Blind Delhi, met the Chief Secretary Dr. Shrikant Baldi, here today.In the meeting, Chief Secretary asked the Department of Personnel and Training to clear backlog of vacancies for visually impaired within three months in the State. He asked officers of Social Justice and Empowerment department to look into retirement age issue of such employees and asked the Finance Department to further examine the matter. The Finance Department has also been asked to look into the matter of increasing conveyance allowance being provided to differently-abled employees.Chief Secretary directed the authorities to issue advisory especially to Himachal Road Transport Corporation to make all bus stations and buses accessible to differently-abled persons. He said the State Government aims to provide congenial environment to those facing physical and other challenges.Chief Secretary asked the authorities to consider half-an-hour exemption both in morning and evening to visually impaired employees for marking their attendance on biometric machines in government offices. He also asked to install biometric machines at accessible places so that differently-abled persons do not face any inconvenience in marking their attendance.
