Deputy Commissioner Directs Officers To Expedite Development Works

The Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today directed all the departments to expedite the development works otherwise action will be taken against erring officials.Presiding over a meeting to review the ongoing works here at District Administrative Complex today, Deputy Commissioner also asked the officials to impose a penalty on the contractors for the slow rate of progress in Nakodar, Shahkot, Phillaur and in other subdivisions of the district.He added that the projects worth several hundred crores were going on in the district which needed to be accomplished very soon.Mr Sharma said that these works were of utmost importance to give a major fillip to the overall development of the district.The Deputy Commissioner categorically said that special thrust must be laid on ensuring the quality of these works so that these works could be completed at the earliest.The Deputy Commissioner also said that the officers must accord top priority to completion of these works to facilitate the people in a big way.He said that the sole motive of issuing grants for these works was to ensure that people could be benefitted from it.Mr Sharma also asked the officers to immediately complete the work and submit its utilisation certificates, so that fresh grants could be issued to people for development works.He asked the heads of all departments to personally supervise the development works so that the projects could be completed in a given time.On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Mr Kulwant Singh, District Development and Panchayat Officer Mr Iqbalpreet Singh, DPO Mr Amarjeet Singh Bhullar, DWO Mr Rajinder Singh, DEO Secondary Mr Harinder Pal Singh, District Social Security Officer Mr Varinder Bains and others were present.
