The Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Thursday initiated a special awareness drive to eliminate the child labour from the district.Presiding over a meeting, Mr Sharma said that during this drive, flex boards, banners and posters will be installed outside commercial institutions, brick kiln, houses, public places, and others  for curbing this menace.He asked the officials for strictly implementing the provisions of the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act 1986 for ensuring the well-being of children.Deputy Commissioner said that this will raise awareness amongst stakeholders and will help to create child Labour monitoring, Tracking and Reporting System. He said that the act must be implemented with full integrity and dedication for safeguarding the rights of children on one hand and making the people aware of this curse on the other.He also asked the officials for carrying out joint inspections by the Police, Labour, Education, Health, Local Government, Social Security and Child welfare for nabbing the people indulging in the Child Labour.Mr. Sharma said that the district administration was committed to wiping out child labour from the district and no stone would be left unturned in this noble cause.Deputy Commissioner said that the main aim of this drive would be to safeguard the interests of the children.Mr. Sharma said that people must be sensitized for eliminating the menace of Child Labour through the special campaign.Prominent amongst present on the occasion included ADC (G) Mr.Jasbir Singh, DCP Mr Amrik Singh Powar, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr Rahul Sindhu, Mr Amit Kumar Panchal, Mr Sanjeev Sharma, Mr Jai Inder Singh, Mr Vineet Kumar, SP Mr.RPS Sandhu, Assistant Commissioner Ms Shayari Malhotra and others.
