Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today asked the Police and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to remove 21 accidental black spots in the city at the earliest to save the human lives. Chairing a meeting of Road Safety Committee here today at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that 21 black spots include Fair Farm Resort, Verma Milk Point Under Bridge, Y-Point Bhagat Singh Colony, T-Point Hill View Kalia Colony, Butta Singh Building Material Store under Police Station-8, Pathankot Chowk, Lamba Pind Chowk, T-Point Suchi Pind, Opposite JC Resorts, PAP Chowk, Rama Mandi Chowk, Birring Gate Dakoha Railway Crossing, Modi Resort, Dhannowali Road, Garha Road opposite Jawahar Nagar Bus Stand road, Chunmun Chowk, Avtar Nagar, Jyoti Chowk, Sheetal Nagar Maqsudan, Tagore Hospital, T-Point Jinda Road and Reru have been identified by thr road safety engineering team.He said that complete report of black spots will be sent to NHAI project directors and police department to remove these spots so that human lives can be saved.He also told the officials to ensure the execution at the earliest adding he would also take up the matter at the appropriate level.
The Deputy Commissioner also said that NHAI would also be asked to get the approach roads of the National Highway repaired to facilitate the commuters. He said that necessary directions would be issued in this regard.Dwelling on another agenda, the Deputy Commissioner asked the Secretary Regional Transport Authority and Traffic Police to take strict action against the overloading vehicles in the city. He said that this needs to be checked with a heavy hand so that traffic nuisance was checked. Mr. Sharma also batted for stern action against drunk drivers and violators of traffic rules. He also asked the Municipal Corporation Authorities to ensure that all the temporary illegal encroachments especially on the main roads were removed at the earliest.On the occasion, ADC (G) Mr Jasbir Singh, DCP Mr Amrik Singh Powar, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr Rahul Sindhu, Mr Amit Kumar Panchal, Mr Sanjeev Sharma, Mr Jai Inder Singh, Mr Vineet Kumar, secretary RTA Dr. Nayan Jassal, Assistant Commissioner Ms Shayari Malhotra Road Safety Engineer Mr Karandeep Singh and others were present.
