Union Minister of State G Kishan Reddy has said that the year 2018 has witnessed lowest ever infiltration bids on the LoC at 171 while as there was no civilian killing due to security forces firing since August 5 in Kashmir.According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in a written reply to a question regarding the security situation, said that the government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance towards militancy and security forces are taking effective and continuous action in countering militancy. “As a result of which a large number of militants have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir during past few years,” the reply, as per KNO, reads.It said that in 2019, up to November 17, 594 militancy related incidents were witnessed, while as 37 civilians were killed besides 79 security forces personnel. “In 2018, 614 incidents of militancy were registered while as 39 civilians were killed   besides 91 security forces personnel were also killed,” the written reply reads.The MoS Home while elaborating on the multi-pronged approach adopted by the government to contain cross border infiltration, the Minister said that this includes multi-tiered deployment along the international border, LoC, border fencing, improved intelligence and operational coordination, equipment security forces with advanced weapons and taking pro-active action against infiltrators.“In year 2018, there were 328 attempts of infiltration while as up to October, 171 attempts were registered,” the written reply reads.The MoS Home also stated that since August 5, no person was killed due to police firing in law and order related incidents. “During the same period, three security forces personnel and 17 civilians were killed in militancy related incidents while as 129 persons got injured,” the written reply read.
