The ‘Back to Village’ phase II activities were today completed across 117 panchayats of Udhampur district. On day 4, Commissioner Secretary PHE, Irrigation and Flood & Control AK Sahu visited Pachoute Panchayat in Block Chenani and held interactions with Panchayat representatives and local public. He took note of their concerns and developmental needs besides assessing economic potential of the area.Sahu said that the basic objective of B2V programme is to take governance from its seat of operation to the doorsteps of the people in villages. He asked the people to be more attentive towards keeping their surroundings clean. He highlighted the importance of Solid Waste Management, Water Harvesting, Cleanliness and ill effects of the use of Plastic/Polythene to our environment. He called upon the public to discard the use of polythene, maintain hygiene, aviod open defecation, keep water resources clean and plant more tress in the villages for a holistic clean environment. Giving a detailed resume of government schemes, the Commissioner Secretary said that all households in Udhampur district would be provided tap water connection by end of 2020.Sahu laid stress on enhancing the production of mushroom and other cash crops by encouraging the farmers for the cultivation of the same.He also distributed kits to new born female baby under BBBP and dedicated new library to the public set up by department libraries in the Panchayat.Meanwhile, the Commissioner Secretary held detailed meeting of all departments and reviewed their performance in the Panchayat in presence of PRIs and Gram Sabha. Several activities were also conducted in other panchayats including Gram Sabhas, inspection of public infrastructure, schools and ration depots Anganwadi centers and mid day meals in schools, plantation and cleanliness drives, distribution of soil health cards, job cards, KCCs, inauguration of PMAY houses & play fields.
