Day-3 of Back to Village- 2 : DDC Kupwara urges officials to play proactive role in developmental drive

The second phase of ‘Back to Village’ (B2V2) programme commenced in 128 Panchayat Halqas of the district today—the visiting officers interacted with locals and Panchayat representatives during Gram Sabhas to get feedback regarding developmental activities.District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg along with Joint Director Planning, Abdul Majeed and other officers, toured Handwara and Langate areas to oversee the conduct of Gram Sabhas.The DDC inaugurated Health and Wellness Centre at Nutnussa, Handwara in presence of Chief Medical Officer and BDC Chairperson. On the occasion, people demanded construction of Receiving Station, digging of bore-well and installation of streetlights.The DDC also instructed the concerned officer to install streetlights in Teress and Chuck Nutnussa villages.During the visit, the DDC laid foundation stone of Health Sub Centre at Jaggerpora.At Kultoora, the DDC inaugurated Crewel Training Centre in presence of BDC Chairman Showkat Pandit. The Centre is run by Handicrafts Department under Aspirational District Programme. A batch of 20 girls will get 12-month training in the centre with monthly stipend of Rs.1000. On the occasion, BDC Chairman projected demand for provision of electric poles and conductors for the area.At Langate, the DDC distributed 3 cheques to the tune of Rs.65000 each as first instalment among houseless fishermen for construction of houses. He also inspected Upper Primary School Langate and took stock of renovation work of the school.Later, the DDC convened a meeting at Sub Division Headquarter Handwara and took stock of the basic amenities including power and drinking water supply. He also reviewed stock and supply position of food grains and other essential commodities.The DDC asked concerned officers to play a proactive role in implementing the welfare schemes.Meanwhile in border Sub Division Karnah, SDM Dr.  Bilal Mohiddun visited Gram Sabhas at Tangdar, Gumal, Gabra, and Teetwal. He inaugurated Mission Indra Dhenush Immunization Programme (MIDIP) at Tangdar and Wood Carving Training Centre at Chamkoot.
