District Legal Services Authority, Jammu under the aegis of U.T of J&K Legal Services Authority celebrated Constitution Day here under the Chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Jammu R.K Wattal.The programme was attended by Judicial Officers, Public Prosecutors, Additional Public Prosecutors, Assistant Public Prosecutors, Advocates, Law Students, Faculty Members from different Colleges, Senior Citizens, Staff and Para Legal Volunteers.The Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Jammu R.K Wattal, read out the Preamble of the Constitution and explained the aims, objectives & importance of constitution of India. He stated that the Constitution is the ultimate Law of our Nation which provides a framework, set of Rules, Laws and Regulations that guides a Country's administration.He laid emphasis on Legal Awareness among the masses and asked to conduct Social Audits in the rural areas with the involvement of concerned departments, PLVs and Retainer Lawyers. Constitution Day represents pride of our independent nation India and signifies its actual spirit, he added. Assistant Professor, The Law School, University of Jammu Dr. Monika Narang, highlighted the Fundamental Rights and Duties of Citizens residing in our country and the uniqueness of Constitution due to its openness to differences and diversities, its acceptance and its commitment to social well-being of the country. Secretary, Bar Association Jammu Abhishek Wazir, spoke about the various important facets included in the Constitution, especially that, every individual is equal before Law and that there is no kind of discrimination based on Caste, Creed, Religion or Languages and highlighted the benchmarks set by Dr. B.R Ambedkar. Others who spoke on the occasion include Presiding Officer, MACT Jammu, Kikar Singh Parihar, Addl. District & Sessions Judge, Jammu, Tahir Khursheed Raina, Spl. Judge CBI Court J&K Rajesh Sekhri, were also present on the occasion. Secretary, DLSA Jammu Naushad Ahmed Khan presented the formal Vote of Thanks. The programme culminated with a pledge to respect and maintain the importance of Constitution of our nation in all situations. Besides this the day was also celebrated at Tehsil Legal Services Committees Akhnoor, Bishnah, R.S Pura, Panchayat Halqas, Legal Literacy Clubs and Legal Aid Clinics of District Jammu.
