Day 2 of Back to Village 2: Second phase of Back to Village in full swing in Srinagar

Field visits, public meetings by visiting officers bring forth genuine, specific developmental concerns; work done report since last phase of programme presented before public

The second phase of the flagship Back to Village programme is in full swing in the Srinagar district where increased public participation was seen on the second day of the weeklong public outreach programme.Field visits and public meetings by designated gazetted officers in eight halqa panchayats across four rural blocks of the district brought forth a range of genuine and specific grievances and developmental needs of these areas.Some of the main grievances and demands for their redressal recorded during the two-day programme at these halqas range from condition of roads to inadequate drainage to lack of adequate health, irrigation and educational facilities to deficits in power and water distribution systems to lack of proper health and play-field facilities to lack of proper social, transport and financial facilities.The halqa where the two-day programme concluded today include Lasjan-A and Lasjan-B of Srinagar block, Panzinara-A and Panzinara-B of Qamarwari block, Khonmoh-A and Khonmoh-B of Khonmoh block, and Dara-A and Faqir Gujri-B of Harwan block.In all these halqas status details of works taken up since the last phase of the flagship programme in June were presented before the public and their feedback about progress of their execution sought from them.The visiting officers of these halqas will now compile reports of recorded grievances and submit it to the office of the Deputy Commissioner.DC Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has directed the concerned designated officers for thorough compilation of recorded grievances from all concerned halqas. He has assured of redressal of all genuine concerns raised during the outreach programme.Srinagar has a total of 21 Panchayat halqas spread over four blocks including 9 in Harwan, 5 in Khonmoh, 5 in Srinagar and 2 in Qamarwari.The next two-day outreach will take place in 7 halqas on November 27-28 followed by that in the remaining 6 halqas on November 29-30.
