On the second day of ‘Back to Village’ program Phase-II, villages in Bandipora remained abuzz with numerous activities as the visiting officers held interactions with locals, inspected government offices, inaugurated several developmental projects and laid the foundation stone of new developmental projects.Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza, Director Sheep Husbandry Abdul Salam Mir, DFO Bandipora Shabir Ahmad along with school children jointly planted several saplings of deodar trees in the premises of Govt Middle School Ayatmullah and Govt Middle School Konan, Bandipora during the Back to Village Program. They also provided sports kits to the youth of the village.At Mantrigam, Gundqaiser, Lakergund and Ayatmulla the DC distributed sports kits among the youth while at Braripora Bonakote, he inaugurated the Public Park constructed at a cost of Rs 2.30 lakh under 14th FC and MGNREGA. The demand was raised by the locals in the first phase of Back to Village earlier this year.While interacting with the people at several places, the DC Bandipora urged the officials to take up works that will improve the quality of life in villages. He said people should prioritize the works in Gram Sabhas and should take up works that will help the larger section of society and improve the quality of life.In other parts of the district, several assets were inaugurated by the Rural Development Department including roads, playground, Community Centres, lanes and drains.
During the day long activities, locals interacted with the visiting officers and raised several demands with regard to healthcare, education, sanitation, electricity and water supply besides other basic needs.The visiting officers also assessed the functionalities of Panchayats and discussed the difficulties being faced by the Panchayats in carrying out its functions and development works besides discussing the possible solutions to these issues.Under the chairmanship of the visiting officers, Bio-diversity Management Committees were also formed and Sarpanch and Panchs were assigned several duties with regard to the implementation of several activities under Bio-diversity project.Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat held a Public hearing meeting at Saderkote Bala and Sonawari in which various issues of the public were discussed for their redressal. Biodiversity Conservation Committees were also constituted to suggest measures for maintaining conservation of biodiversity of the area. During the awareness camp Horticulture tool kits were distributed among the farmers.Later the officers along with the Panchayat members visited Schools, health institutions, AWCs, government assets, banks, water bodies and several private enterprises to review their functioning.
