To take governance at the doorsteps of the people, the Government`s initiative Back to Village-2 was today set in motion across 72 Panchayats of seven blocks of district Kathua.Interacting with the people during a Gram Sabha at Bani village, District Development Commissioner, OP Bhagat said that the first phase of the programme was focused on collecting feedback and assessing needs, while the second phase intends to look more closely at the task of empowering, energizing and institutionalizing the functioning of PRIs in association with Panchs and Sarpanchs.In all the blocks where the programme was rolled out, the visiting officer read out the charter of Fundamental Duties, discussed B2V1 report card, critical gap analysis report and obtained feedback on follow up of B2V1 activities.The officers also unveiled the GPDP booklet, 14th FC plan booklet in the Gram Sabha. They also inspected the purchase record register for MDM and ICDS besides pass books of 14th FC, MDM, ICDS and Panchayat`s own resources.Awareness regarding individual beneficiary based schemes and guidelines of government schemes to help increase rural incomes was also generated by the frontline workers of various departments and the visiting officers.The villagers, during the programme, apprised the officers about the difficulties in availing the benefits under various individual beneficiary oriented schemes and the problems being faced by them.The DDC announced Rs. 15 lakh for Solid Waste Management during the B2V2 programme at Bani and assured locals that Video Conferencing facility would be soon established for facilitating Government activities in the area.Commissioner Secretary to Govt., PDD, Hirdesh Kumar, District Employment Officer, D C Bhatti, Dy. Conservator of Forest, Rahul Singh, Director Finance, Suresh Koul were among the designated officers who launched this initiative in the allotted panchayats.During his visit, the DDC was accompanied by ACD, Sukhpal Singh, SDM Bani, Joginder Singh, BDO, Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar and Patwari of the concerned panchayat.
