Himachal gets best performing award in health and education sectors

Himachal Pradesh has bagged best performing state awards in big states category in health and education sectors in the India Today State of the States Awards Survey.These awards were presented to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in the India Today State of the States Conclave- 2019 by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javdekar at New Delhi on Friday. Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj was also present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister lauded the efforts of India Today group for encouraging the states to perform better and creating a healthy competitive spirit among Indian states. Detailing out the achievements in health and education sectors, Jai Ram Thakur said that Himachal Pradesh had a high literacy rate of 83 percent and was second after Kerela. There were 15556 government and 3252 private educational institutions in state in addition to 139 degree colleges, five universities, one central university, six medical colleges and IIT whereas AIIMS was also coming up.He said that every effort had been made to provide quality health services to people at their door-steps. The state government had launched HimCare scheme with a provision of free treatment up to rupees five lakh per family in registered hospitals and Rs. 42 crore had been spent on treating 43,000 patients so far. He said that Ayishman Bharat Yojna was being implemented effectively by the state and more than 35,000 patients have been treated by spending Rs. 33 crores so far.

The Chief Minister said another innovation scheme named Sahara Yojna had been started for taking care of economically weaker sections and patients affected with serious diseases like cancer, paralysis, muscular dystrophy, thalassemia and parkinson etc. He said that Mukhya Mantri Chikitsa Kosh had been set up under which assistance of more than rupees four crore had been provided to 192 beneficiaries.Jai Ram Thakur said that the state was marching ahead in all sectors and had beautiful landscape, clean environment and good forest cover which make it a preferred tourist destination. He said that recently Global Investors Meet was held which attracted investment worth Rs. 93000 crore. The state was making efforts to attract investors to boost industrialization.He thanked the Prime Minister for giving positive image and identity to India abroad and bringing the unity in true sense by abrogating article 370. He praised the judiciary and leadership for giving verdict in favour of age old dispute of Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya.Group Editorial Director (Publishing) India Today Group Raj Chengappa welcomed the Chief Guests.Chairman-cum-MD of TV Today Arun Puri, Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Rajasthan, Puduchery and Ministers of various states were present in the Awards Ceremony
