"Punjab is the first state in the country, which is using Information Technology (IT) in healthcare sector with the help of C-DAC." It was disclosed by Punjab Health & Family Welfare and Labour Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu, while addressing the inaugural session of two days 2nd International Conference on Futuristic Trends in Network & Computing Technologies at Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Mohali.Mr. Sidhu said that Punjab Government has already started working on Digital Punjab Vision and this conference is in tune with the latest trends and technologies. "We all know that in today's era Information is the new growth engine and drive all economies in this cut and throat competition world", he said. The Health minister said networking and computing technologies laid the foundation for technologies like Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.Welcoming the international delegates in this Conference, Mr. Sidhu has given the credit to C-DAC of realizing state government's agenda of using IT in all domains. He said that 23 district hospitals of the state are using C-DAC telemedicine since 15 years. Reiterating his commitment to push the IT agenda in healthcare sector, Mr. Sidhu said that very soon role of IT in healthcare will increase beyond new horizons. Decks have been cleared for many hospitals of the state to leap towards computerization.It is pertinent to mention that this International Conference has been organized by C-DAC Mohali in collaboration with Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, Himachal Pardesh.On this occasion Executive Director C-DAC Mohali Dr. P.K. Khosla made a glimpse of C-DAC activities regarding Robotics, Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Telemedicines, Commercial Drones and many more. He said that security challenges create many global opportunities in the present scenario and India will be able to take this opportunity with both hands.Mr. Harkesh Chand Sharma Machhli Kalan, Political Secretary to Health Minister, Dr. R.K. Soni, Director AICTE, Prof. Rajesh Khanna from Thapar University TIET, Dr. Sanjay Sood, Principal General Chair C-DAC Mohali among others, who were present during the function.
