The health department on Tuesday held an awareness seminar over vector-borne diseases in Government High School under mission Tandarust Punjab. EpidemiologistDr Satish Kumar from the district health department was a key speaker in this seminar. Addressing the gathering, District Epidemiologist Dr Satish Kumar said that the dengue was transmitted by the bite of Aedes mosquito which usually targets in the daytime. He said that a severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscles, and joint pains are symptoms of the disease.He added that Aedes mosquito breeds in desert coolers, water storage containers, tyres, overhead tanks and many more places where rainwater collects or is stored. District Epidemiologist asked the teachers and students to motivate the people to keep all water storage containers covered, besides old tyres, broken pots, crockery should be removed.Dr Kumar told that insecticides, petrol, and kerosene must be sprayed in coolers, containers etc once a week, which can not be emptied or cleaned. Moreover, he encouraged the students as well as teachers and others to wear full sleeves clothes.On the occasion, School management and others welcomed the team of the health department in the school.
