Punjab Health & Family Welfare and Labour Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu today said that Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab government is committed to provide required  medicines to all government hospitals of the state, besides filling up vacant posts of doctors and other subordinate staff. He was addressing the gathering during the Cancer  Diagnostics and Medical Checkup Camp being organized by World Cancer Care Charitable Trust in commemoration of 550th Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Dussehra  Ground here. Mr. Sidhu said that to redress the shortage of doctors, other paramedical staff and availability of medical equipment in government hospitals, the health department  has not left any stone to turn.The Chief Guest Mr. Sidhu also took stock of the latest equipment fitted in specially prepared buses for the examination of the cancer patients. He  also wished early recovery of the patients and carried his own bone density checkup. Speaking with the patients, he said that health is our biggest wealth. He urged people to  exercise daily for good health and to improve their eating habits so that cancer and other chronic diseases can be avoided.Mr. Kulwant Dhaliwal from World Cancer Care  Charitable Organization exhorted people to improve eating habits and focus on daily exercise and walk. 

He also said that people should donate wholeheartedly to the charitable organizations working in medical sphere. “Nowadays diseases are being increased due to lack of  awareness. We don’t know what to eat and how much to eat”, he said.Dr. Dharminder Dhillon, MD, World Cancer Care Institute apprised that to diagnose different cancers,  physical examination and tests of women and men were conducted besides providing them medicines free of cost. He said that total 1424 persons were registered during the  camp, which included 838 men and 586 women, who were examined free of cost for various ailments.Mr. Harkesh Chand Sharma, Political Secretary to Health Minister Punjab,  Mr. Jaspreet Singh Gill, President, Congress Committee, Mohali city and SMO Mohali Dr. Manjit Singh also spoke on the occasion.Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Mrs.  Aashika jain, Block Congress Committee (Rural) President Mr. Mohan Singh Bathalana, District Cooperative Bank Director Mr. Amarjit Singh Jiti Sidhu, Mr. jagroop Singh Dhol  Kurari, Mr. karmajit Singh Bittu, MC Mohali Former President and Councillor Mr. Rajinder Singh Rana, Mr. Amrik Singh Somal, Mr. Bharat Bhushan Maini, Mrs. Taranjit Kaur Gill,  Mrs. Jaspreet Kaur, Mr. Surinder Singh Rajput, Mr. Narayan Singh Sidhu and Nachhatar Singh, Advocate Narpinder Singh Rangi, Raja Kanwarjot Singh, Mr. G.S. Riar, Mr.  Baljinder Pal Singh, Mr. Gurcharan Singh Bhanwra, Chaudhary Haripal Cholta Kalan, Mr. Pardeep Soni, Mr. Gurwinder Singh Badi, Mr. Gurdhiyan Singh Durali, Mr. Bhagat Singh  Namdhari and Mr. Nirmal Kaushal were present on this occasion.
