Allaying all concerns regarding implementation of the ‘Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act’, the Punjab Health Minister S. Balbir Singh Sidhu on Saturday assured IMA’s Punjab Chapter delegation that all their genuine demands would be incorporated before finalising any decision. The Act would come into force for the welfare of patients as well as to set parameters for clinical establishments, the Minister said in a press communique reiterating that state government was committed to ensure best of health care facilities to all its citizens.No need to worry as state before finalising any decision would take on board all stakeholders, the Minister added. Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that it has been brought to his notice by representatives of Punjab Chapter of IMA (Indian Medical Association) and other stakeholders that they have many objections regarding the said Act which may place several technical hitches in practicing medicine in the State and it would also affect the functioning of clinical establishments.The Minister assured the associations that the State Government would consider the all submissions besides objections raised by them regarding the Act and a joint committee of Health Department and IMA’s Punjab chapter would be constituted in this regard.  He said that before finalising the draft of Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, the State Government would sort out the all relevant issues of Medical Association & stakeholders. He also said that to ensure the registration and regulation of all clinical establishments in the State with a view to prescribe the minimum standards of facilities and services provided by them, the Punjab Government is going to implement this pro-people Act which would certainly prove helpful to control the malpractices in one of the respected professions, the Minister asserted.The Minister also disclosed that a special meeting would be held with Punjab Medical Association on November 25 to discuss the relevant issues of Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act.
