Providing collective-cosmic platform to international students of 50+ countries to represent heritage, achievements, rituals, inventions and celebrations of their respective country, Lovely Professional University (LPU) has been organizing 10th season of its annual two-day international fest “One World” this year. On these lines a virtual ‘Mini-World’ has been manifested at the LPU Campus. On the day-one, 9 Ambassadors and Diplomats from 6 Nations have added charm with their graceful presence by witnessing the premier celebrations of the fest. The esteemed guests not only appreciated lively cultural presentations about their own countries but also danced upon the favourite rhythmic beats of other countries, particularly for Bhangra dhol-beats of Punjab (India). This year, the tenth edition of the fest is primarily on the theme of "Inventions & Inventions: Ideas that made the Difference". Her Excellency Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia to India Ms Judith Kapijimpanga; Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to India Ms Faduma Abdullahi Mohamud; His Excellency Ambassador of the High Commission of  Brunei Darussalam Mr Sidek Ali; Ambassador of Mongolia to India Mr Ganbold Gonchig; Education Attache Mr Sediqullah Sahar from Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to India; His Excellency Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea to India Mr Leonardo Mola Laplata Mum; First Secretary of the Republic of Zambia Mr Chisenga Navilery Bangwe; Second Secretary of the Republic of Zambia Mr Namunda Lubinda Mwitumwa; Mrs Mariaratnah HJ Mohd Apong ( Wife of His Excellency Mr Sidek Ali) jointly witnessed the initiation of international cultural extravaganza along with LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal & Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal at the campus, today. Prior to this, Central HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ had inaugurated the ‘One World’ festivities a few days back at the campus during his visit.Upholding the great notion that festivals promote diversity, increase creativity, and make the world a better place to live in; the fest was flagged off for 4 kilo-meter long colourful cultural procession. It comprised 50+ international tableaus, troupes and 40+ dances. Showcasing cultural inheritance of their respective country and maintaining global unity, Indian students, too, participated along with their International counterparts in enormous celebrations. All of them were seen dancing and singing throughout the procession and working together for allied endeavours. 

Celebrating the theme of the year, students were holding placards with slogans related to various festivities, models of inventions and innovations in miniature forms with respect to their country. International students were also seen with particular dresses, ornaments and other attributes of their country.  Continuing years’ of celebrations at the Baldev Raj Mittal Unipolis arena through 70+ exhibition stalls, 3000+ international students mesmerized 30,000+ spectators and audiences on the inaugural showcasing.LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal holds that international students at LPU are always inspired to celebrate this annual mega-fest by showcasing and sharing their cultures and values with students of other countries. Celebrated under separate theme every year, this celebration helps students in establishing great bonds of unity in diversity, making global understanding, attaining universal brotherhood for a peaceful co-existence globe over.International students Dawa Tshomo of B.Sc. (Airlines, Tourism & Hospitality) from Bhutan; Jaime Ripoco Eboiche of B.Tech (Electronics & Communication Engineering) from Equatorial Guinea;  Kanishkhani Bimsara Batuge Batugedara Appuhamilage of B.Sc. (Design - Fashion) from Sri Lanka; and,  Gabriela De Los Angeles Mejias Pineiro of Diploma in Food Production from Venezuela share: “We have come to understand the culture and origin of other countries through their rituals and other celebrations at the campus. In addition, we have imbibed great companionship and harmony from all of our counter-parts.”International Students also exhibited myths, folk-lore, tribal-tales, urban development, music, dance-forms, literature, chivalry, currencies, attires, languages and other achievements. Some of the participating international students include those from China, Bhutan, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Mali, Maldives, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania, Mauritius, Tibet and more. LPU Schools of Business, Agriculture, Computer Science & Engineering, Law, Polytechnic, Computer Applications, Mechanical Engineering, Physiotherapy & Paramedical Sciences and Directorate of Distance Education, Bio-Engineering & Bio-Sciences represented heritage of different countries individually.Highlighting, mega annual international cultural fest “One World” transforms LPU campus into Mini World every year, as many thousand students from 50+ Countries gather together to celebrate strength of unity in diversity. This annual endeavour of the university is an effort to bind the students in a single knot of unity and cultural diversity. This year, ‘One World’ Fest has entered its 10th season- an illustrious journey that commenced a decade ago to strengthen the cultural bond among the students. It is now a flagship event of the university.
