District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai today directed Revenue and Horticulture Departments to pace up on snow damage assessment and submit the report within a week’s time for early release of compensation to the affected farmers.These remarks were made by the DDC while chairing a meeting of officers to take stock of the snow damage assessment across the district.The meeting was attended by ADC Budgam Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, SDMs, CAO, DHO, DIO, Ex.Ens, Tehsildars, EOs of Municipal Committees and officials of concerned departments.The DDC emphasized on area wise damage assessment of snow affected orchards and directed concerned to submit a comprehensive report.In view of the weather inclement forecast reports, the DDC directed the concerned to remain in state of readiness and keep men and machinery ready to meet emergency like situation to ensure smoothly delivery of essential services.He directed Tehsildars to hire JCB machine for snow clearance on all major and link roads in their respective jurisdictions.All Tehsildars were also instructed to submit report related to partial and fully damaged houses within two days for timely release of compensation.The DDC released Rs. 4.5 lakh out of Red Cross fund to the teshil offices for monetary assistance to the deserved. He said that Rs. 2 crore have been released under SDRF to meet emergency requirements in the district.During the meeting, the DDC was informed that all major and link roads have been cleared of snow while electricity and water supply has been also been restored across the district.
