In view of the 550th Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Punjab Tourism & Cultural Affairs Department, in collaboration with Punjab Digital Library, has set up an exhibition showcasing life and teachings of first Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, near the main pandal Guru Nanak Darbar, at Sultanpur Lodhi. This exhibition was inaugurated by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh yesterday and is well received by a large number of devotees and till today evening, more than 1 lakh devotees have visited it.This exhibition comprises of coins related to Sacha Sauda period, coins and more than 150 year old utensils related to the time period of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar to Maharaja Ranjit Singh, sakhi’s related to Guru Sahib, miniature paintings and other paintings/photographs etc related to Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.While providing information, Davinderpal Singh, Director, Punjab Digital Library, stated that more than 1 lakh devotees have visited this exhibition on November 5 & 6, 2019. He informed that coins made of gold, silver and copper have been displayed in this exhibition, tokens, besides commemorative coins issued in memory of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji during the time period starting from Baba Banda Singh Bahadar till Maharaja Ranjit Singh. He said that its a matter of great pride that from all kings from the time period of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar till Maharaja Ranjit Singh, had issued commemorative coins in memory of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Besides this, Janam Sakhi’s provided by Ludhiana-based sikh scholar Dr Anurag Singh have also been put on display in this exhibition. The miniature paintings have been provided by IAS Navjot Singh Randhawa.Lakhmir Singh, additional Director, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, Punjab, said that this exhibition has been well received by a large number of devotees, who have learnt about the life and teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The devotees appreciated the efforts of Punjab Government in organising mega celebrations on the occasion of 550th Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
