Patiala Member Parliament Preneet kaur today appealed to the public and concerned departments involved in care and management of stray cattle to work jointly to address the stray cattle problem in the state.Addressing the 550th Prakash Purb function organized by Punjab Gau Sewa Commission here today, Chief Guest Mrs. Preneet Kaur said, “It is need of the hour to address the problem of stray cattle on priority basis as human lives are on stake.She said that the state government has established cattle ponds at district level to ensure the care, protection and management of stray cattle in the state. Apart from this, more than 500 Gaushala are involved in care and management of stray cattle. To ensure the better upkeep and management of cows, the government has appointed full team of Punjab Gau Sewa Commission members with its Chairman Sh. Sachin Sharma. “But government efforts could be more fruitful, when the general public would cooperate wholeheartedly”, she categorically said.In his address, Punjab Gau Sewa Commission Chairman Mr. Sachin Sharma appealed to the state government to transfer the cow cess to commission to ensure care and management of the cows by providing financial assistance to Gaushalas and cattle ponds. Earlier, Mr. Sharma and his team welcomed the chief guest and assured to fulfill the objectives of commission with full responsibility.Commission Chief Executive officer Dr. Harminder Singh Sekhon also gave presentation regarding the works of commission.Mr. Madan Lal MLA Ghanaur, Dr. Inderjeet Singh Director Animal Husbandry, Mr. K.K. Sharma Chairman PRTC, Mr. Sanjeev Sharma Bittu Mayor Patiala Municipal Corporation, Mr. Kamaljeet Singh Chawla Vice Chairman of Gau Sewa Commission, Mrs. Krishana Mittu, Mr. Rajwant Rai Raju, Mr. Ashok Gupta, Mr. O.P. Kanojia, Mr. Vikas Vicky Soni, Mr. Raju William and Mr. Darshan Lal (all Ex-officio Members of the commission), Dr. Harminder Singh Sekhon, CEO & Dr. Sarabdeep Singh Dy CEO of the commission, Mr. K.K Malhotra President District Congress Committee Dr. Deepak Ghai, Mr. Karan Gaur, Mr. Rajesh Panjola, Mr. Gurinder Singh Vice Chairman PRTC, Inspector Rahul Kaushal and Mr. Vipin Sharma Secretary Rajindra Gymkhana Club were present on this occasion.
