Commissioner Secretary PHE A.K. Sahu today convened a meeting to review progress of Public Health Engineering (PHE) projects under Jal Jeevan Mission, National Rural Drinking water programme (NRDWP), NABARD and languishing projects.He said that department is taking various initiatives to provide potable drinking facility to people and special focus is being given to areas which face scarcity of drinking water.To provide the piped water to all households in Jammu & Kashmir under Jal Jeevan Mission, the Comm Secy informed that the Government has set a deadline of 2022, which is two years prior to the target set by the Union Government for rest of the country. To achieve the target, he urged upon the concerned to quadruple their efforts and also expedite Adhhaar seeding to new and existing water connections. The Commissioner also impressed upon the officials to incorporate the technology in their work by doing precise geo-tagging of all water connections. He said that the exercise would help in getting a reliable and accurate GIS map of water supply pipelines.He also asked for developing an effective web-based monitoring system by integrating the daily operational supply system in the peripheral areas of the Union Territory.Sahu impressed upon all the concerned to complete all the PHE projects in a time bound manner so that public can avail benefits of these projects at the earliest.The meeting also discussed various steps to be taken to bring improvement in water supply schemes by way of ensuring the upgradation of the schemes so that uninterrupted water supply would be made available to the people.Threadbare discussion was held on languishing projects and other related schemes including water supply schemes in Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal and Bandipora districts. Commissioner Secretary directed Engineers that all the pending PHE projects should be strictly completed within a stipulated time frame. He also asked them to complete the fixed targets well in time and also stressed for judicious use of funds. He said no further time or cost overrun shall be allowed under any circumstances on such projects.All DCs were asked to review progress of all PHE projects on regular basis.Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal, Deputy Commissioner Budgam Tariq Hussain Ganai, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Hashmat Ali, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Mirza, Chief Engineer PHE Abdul Wahid,  Superintending Engineers of Hydraulic & Mechanical, Executive Engineers and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
