Modi’s persona is against a federal and participative style of democracy which is so essential for maintaining the unity of India said Vijay Inder Singla in his election meetings today. He further stated that Akali – BJP Govt. has created a fear psychosis in Punjab and the common man does not have freedom of speech and is being intimidated by Govt. controlled machinery to bow to their command. Singla said that no amount of freebies and doles can work to the benefit of common man unless they are backed by a honest and credible political administration which is missing in Punjab and people are fed up of the mafia governance in Punjab.
Singla remarked that he has been constantly endeavoring to bring development projects to his constituency in the last 5 years as an MP and Akalis only contribution has been to create hurdles and get cheap publicity whether it was the Cancer Hospital project or Sewerage funding. On the issue of Modi factor in Punjab he stated that there is a strong anti Akali wave in Punjab and BJP is an equal partner in creating this situation.Singla stated that Akali – BJP Govt. has not been able to further the interests of all sections of society in Punjab and common man is feeling alienated and cheated. Manifesto is not taken seriously by the Akali – BJP Govt. nor the Govt. has the capacity to deliver with an empty treasury. The tall claims and promises are only to fool the honest Punjabi but his election tours show that people have now made up their minds to cast their vote on 30 April for merit and performance only and not to candidates who stand for deceit and gimmickry.
