The Department of Agriculture, Jammu today observed Vishawkarma Day at Government Agriculture Workshop, Jammu in which Director Agriculture, P.S. Rathore was the chief guest. The Director, while speaking on the occasion, stressed on the need for modernization of the workshop with farmer friendly machinery and tools to empower the community further boost their economic status. “Agriculture Mechanization is one of the key interventions aimed at doubling the income of farmers by 2022” he added. In this regard, the Director asked the concerned authorities to prepare a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) after proper assessment of the additional requirements of the agriculture workshop for upgradation.Pertinently, the department is receiving good response regarding results of different Agriculture Machines like Seed-cum –Fertilizer Drills, Reaper-cum-Binders, Power Weeders, Maize/wheat Threshers and Diesel Hill Ploughs being popularized under different Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS). Meanwhile, Rathore interacted with the workers and staff to know about their problems and other operational difficulties for redressal.Similarly, Vishawkarma Day celebrations were also held at Seed processing Plant, Mushroom Development and Training Centre, Jammu, Seed Multiplication Farms of the department located at Chinore and Chakrohi.Ravinder Thaploo, Deputy Director (Central), Jammu, Anil Nargotra, Agriculture Research Engineer, Arshad Hussain, SMS Engineering, Bantoo Dhar, Technical Assitant, Rajeev Mangotra, Technical Assitant, and other senior officers of the department also attended the programme.
