The ongoing internet gag has cast its shadow on the much ambitious scheme of New Delhi—the Ladli Beti, where newborn female child is given a monthly financial help till she  reaches the age of 16. Due to non-availability of internet, the Social Welfare department employees are not able to access the data of female children registered with it under  Ladli Beti Scheme. The internet gag has not allowed the employees responsible to disburse the amount a girl child is entitled to receive on monthly basis causing a huge  inconvenience to the parents of the registered children. The scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendera Modi with a sole aim of ensuring quality education of girl child  across the country including Jammu and Kashmir in 2017. In Kashmir, scheme is implemented by social welfare department.Adil Nazir, a parent, whose daughter is registered for  the Ladli beti scheme since past one year, said that since August no installment has been deposited in her daughter’s account. “I checked with the concerned bank branch and  they told me that they are not able to fetch the data due to the internet gag,” he said.Fehmeeda Gul, another parent said that she had submitted the documents at the concerned  child development officer (CDO) at Abi Guzar to get her daughters’ documents verified for the Ladli beti scheme. “I was asked to get in touch with the bank as my daughter’s case  stands cleared. I have been contacting the concerned bank but every time I returned disappointed,” Gul said.A senior employee at the Social welfare department said that that  they are solely dependent on the internet. We are not able to retrieve the data of children registered with us and the amount disbursed by the Centre. Earlier, there has been  monthly monitoring and disbursement of funds to the respective accounts of girl child,” a senior social welfare employee said. “We are not able to implement or monitor the  scheme since August 5.”Since August 5, the Centre scrapped the Article 370 and bifurcated the erstwhile state into two Union Territories (UTs), the internet services were barred  across Kashmir.
