Advisor to Governor, Farooq Khan today visited Baramulla where he chaired a meeting to review progress and functioning of Agriculture, Horticulture and other allied sectors.The  meeting was attended by Secretary Agriculture Production Manzoor Ahmad Lone, District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo, Director General Social Welfare,  Director Horticulture, Director Agriculture, Director Sericulture, senior officers of various departments, district and sectoral officers and other concerned functionaries.During the  meeting, DDC Baramulla gave a detailed briefing to the Advisor about the progress, achievements and future plans in Horticulture, Agriculture and other vital departments.On the  occasion, Advisor Khan took a comprehensive and sector wise review of the implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes including PM-KISAN, RRKVY and MIDH. He  exhorted upon the concerned officers to put in extra effort for the effective implementation of these schemes and welfare programmes.

He also directed them to complete all the ongoing projects within the stipulated time for which he issued necessary directions to the concerned authorities.Emphasizing upon the  need for the intervention of modern and scientific farming methods and techniques, Advisor Khan said that there is a need to bridge the gap between fields and labs. He said that  the government is taking every initiative for achieving augmented agricultural production so that better remunerative prices are obtained by the farmers.Moreover, he said that  agriculture and other allied sectors have immense potential to generate huge employment avenues and urged the youth to adopt such sectors for their sustainable  livelihood.Meanwhile, Advisor Khan also took a detailed review of Education, Rural Development, Social Welfare and other Departments during which he was briefed about the  functioning of these departments by the concerned heads.Advisor Khan stressed for achieving time-bound results in core sectors and directed to mobilize additional resources in  this regard. He also directed the officers to redress the grievances and demands of the general public on priority.
