Governor Bandaru Dattatraya presided over the meeting of Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation and allied departments at Raj Bhawan today to get first-hand information about various ongoing schemes and works being implemented for skill development in the state. Shri Dattatraya appreciated the efforts of all departments for initiating various steps in skill development in the State. He said that efforts should be made to take maximum benefit from various centrally sponsored schemes and said that he was ready to give any kind of support in central assistance. He asked to submit a report in this regard so that it could be submitted to Center Government.He stressed on making computer education effective at the primary level and introducing new vocational training.  He said that such courses should be started on the demand of industries and training should be made in reputed institutions of the country.Managing Director, Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN) Rohan Thakur gave the power-point presentation and briefed about the overall status of the activities being implemented by the Nigam. 

He apprised the Governor that the HPKVN was established in 2015 as State Skill Mission with the objective to consolidate the fragmented Technical Vocational and Educational Training (TVET) programmes and align all TVET programmes with India’s National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). It also facilitates private sector participation in the design and delivery of TVET and development of skill infrastructure in the State.Director, Technical Education Shubhkaran Singh detailed that 356 Technical and Vocational Institutions were working under Technical Education Department out of which 158 were working in government sector and 198 in private sector with the sanctioned intake of 57488 students per year.  Besides, seven centrally funded institutions in the technical education sector were also running in the State with the active support of the department.He also detailed about Degree Level Technical Institutions, Pharmacy Colleges, Diploma level Institutions, Industrial Training Institutes, External Aided Project, Asian Development Bank-funded Skill Development Project, Community Development through Polytechnics (CDTP).Director, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Lalit Jain and Deputy Director, Industries Sanjay Sharma also gave power-point presentations on various activities related to vocational training.Secretary to Governor Rakesh Kanwar conducted the proceedings of the meeting.
