Keeping in view the ongoing festival season with special emphasis on Diwali, the district administration Mansa ahs constituted teams under Sub Divisional Magistrates that will be conducting surprise raids at various food joints in the district to ensure that people of Mansa get the best quality eatables.Deputy Commissioner Mansa Apneet Riyait said while presiding over meeting of the food safety committee convened here today. She directed the food safety officers to ensure that no food joint is spared while conducting surprise checking and that all the samples collected are duly sent for testing to the food testing laboratory located at Kharar in SAS Nagar district.Deputy Commissioner added that total 163 food samples have been collected from January to September this year. Of these 12 food samples have failed and fine of Rs 8.70 lacs has been collected. The samples that failed standards laid under Food Safety and Standard Act have been penalized by the court of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mr Rajdeep Singh Brar who is Adjudicating Officer under the Food Safety Act.Also it has been directed that no sweet seller will weigh the sweets along with the box. If any complaint is received regarding sweet seller weighing box along with the sweets, strict action will be taken against him or her. Similarly, the Deputy Commissioner has directed that a team be deputed to check weighing of food products in the festival season to ensure that no customer is fleeced by being given lesser quantity of eatables than the money charged for it.ADC (G) Mr Rajdeep Singh Brar, Assistant Commissioner (General) Mr Navdeep Kumar, assistant commissioner food Mr Amritpal Singh, Food Safety Officer Mansa and Sardulgarh Mr Sandeep Singh and Food Safety Officer Mr Sandeep Singh were present.
