The Director General Social Welfare, Ruksana Gani today convened a meeting with the officials of District Social Welfare Ganderbal to review the overall functioning of the department.The District Social Welfare Officer, Bureeda Majid gave an overview of various welfare schemes and scholarship programmes being offered by the department in the district.The meeting was also attended by other officials of the directorate and District Social Welfare department.While reviewing the functioning of District Social Welfare department Ganderbal, the District Social Welfare Officer informed that under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) 17464 beneficiaries and under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) 1408 beneficiaries are covered. The monthly financial assistance of Rs 1000 is being credited through DBT mode in their personal account numbers.While reviewing the pendency, DSWO appraised the chair that there are 5582 pending cases under ISSS and 1408 cases under NSA. The Director General assured that these cases will be sanctioned when additional sanction received from the concerned quarters.Underscoring the need for proper implementation of Social Welfare Schemes, Director General said that there is a need for generating greater awareness among the masses about the schemes and facilitating people to join them, so that the benefits reach the intended sections of the society in an efficient manner.Later, Ruksana Gani also visited the various SWCs/Tehsil Social Welfare Offices in the district besides Bal Ashram Kangan where she reviewed the facilities being provided to the inmates and issued on spot instructions for its efficient and smooth functioning.
