Jammu and Kashmir administration on said that they have credible inputs about major militant attacks being planned to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir. It said that 99 per cent of Kashmir was restriction free and that some measures taken by the government post August 5 were to prevent civilian casualties and the credit for “peaceful atmosphere and no civilian killings” goes to people and security forces.”Addressing press conference at Media Facilitiation Centre here, Government Spokesman Rohit Kansal, according to the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that in the light of important constitutional changes that were made in relation to Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, a number of restrictions were imposed in order to prevent extremely aided militants from disrupting peace and inflicting casualties on innocent citizens.“It is not a well-established fact that there have been sustained attempts from cross the border, both in the past and more so in the last two months to promote militancy in Jammu and Kashmir in order to create a sense of fear and terror among people,” Kansal said. He said that it is also a fact that attempts from across the border to disturb the normal life in Kashmir continue.“Credible inputs continue to be received of the likelihood of large scale militant attacks sponsored by the forces inimical to the nation and from outside its borders. These militant attacks are meant not only to cause large scale damage to life and property but also create an atmosphere of fear and terror among the people of Jammu and Kashmir where vast majority is peace loving,” said Kansal.
He said that that banned organisations such as Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Muhamamad, Hizbul Mujahideen continue to make attempts to “terrorize the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”The J&K administration said that it was in anticipation of attacks, that restrictions were imposed so that externally aided “militancy doesn’t not lead to a loss of innocent life.”“This is remarkable given the history of events in 2008, 2010, and 2016. Some killings and injuries have been inflicted by the militants including on a baby to prevent traders, businessmen and transporters from doing their normal business,” said Kansal.He also announced in 99 per cent Kashmir area there were no restrictions anywhere on the movement of people.The government also urged the businessmen, traders, industrialists, transporters, shopkeepers and separatists to start their normal activities.
