Authorities decision to issue date sheets for Class 10 and Class 12 have plunged student community into a deep anxiety across Kashmir as they cite incomplete syllabus for their non-readiness to face exams.Notably, the educational institutions across Kashmir remained shut nearly two months since August 05, when the central government repealed the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) and bifurcated the State into two Union Territories. The government in the meantime has issued date sheets for class 10th and 12th on Thursday. The examinations for class 10th will be started from October 29 while as the test for class 12 will be started from October 30.Students who are scheduled to appear in the board examinations here told the wire service –Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they have not completed their syllabus yet due to the continuous closure of educational institutions. They said the officials concerned too remained tightlipped over the concession in syllabus. “We are in a fix and don’t know how we will prepare ourselves for the examinations. We have not completed our syllabus but the authorities concerned have failed to look into the suffering being faced by the student community,” Aaqib Rehman, a student studying in MPML Higher secondary said.

He said that the students couldn’t attend their classes properly, therefore it won’t be possible for them to appear in the examination that too in a short span of time. “The government must postpone the exams till the syllabus is completed so that the students be able to appear in the test properly,” he said, adding that the higher secondary schools in Kashmir reopened on October 3 and it would not be feasible for the students to appear in the examinations in a very short span of time.Sahil Ismail, another student from SP Higher Secondary said that the special classes in make-shift schools were voluntarily started by some of the youth in many localities, which has eased the burden of students to a large extend. However, he said the students utterly failed to complete their syllabus and will certainly deprive them from appearing in the future competitive exams in such circumstances.“Qualifying the examination is not enough but it is mandatory for a student to complete the syllabus prior to appearing in test so that the students will be competent enough to appear in future competitive examinations,” he added. It is worth to mention here that some of the private schools have conducted internal examinations.
