Governor urges people to contribute in making cleanliness and plastic-free campaign more effective

On the occasion of International Kullu Dussehra Festival, Governor Bandaru Dattatraya called upon the people to make their significant contribution in making cleanliness as well  as plastic-free campaign more effective and successful. He was speaking while inaugurating the cultural evening of international Kullu Dussehra festival at Lal Chand Prarthi Kala  Kendra at Kullu on Tuesday evening.The Governor said that the festivals celebrated in the state reveal the religious beliefs of the people. He said that it was a good thing that  despite the different geographical conditions, the people of the state were still devoted to their ancient culture, traditions and cultural heritage and these fairs and festivals were  an important part of their lifestyle, where the enthusiasm and excitement of public life was reflected.“As such, the entire Himachal is very beautiful. However, Kullu district is  world-renowned for its tempting beauty and valleys and has its unique place in India for its nature and culture”, said Dattatraya. He added that every year lakhs of tourists from  the country and abroad visited here and enjoyed the natural beauty.

He urged the local residents to protect this beautiful environment and said that although environmental protection was a big challenge for us but human life and its development  rests on this.He said that Dussehra signifies the victory of good over evil and we get to learn the truth, sacrifice, high ideals and service from the life of Lord Rama and there was  a need to follow these ideals to make society happy.Earlier, the Governor also paid obeisance at Lord Raghunath Ji idol placed at Mela ground.Forest, Transport, Youth Services  and Sports Minister Govind Thakur, welcomed the Governor on the occasion and said Dussehra festival was very significant as teachings of Lord Rama were equally important in  the present time as well. He appreciated the efforts of Kullu district administration for a better arrangement of the festival.  He also honoured the Governor on the occasion.  Deputy Commissioner-cum-Vice Chairman of Kullu Dussehra festival committee Dr. Richa Verma detailed about the activities planned for the festival.Justice Dharam Chand  Chaudhary, Judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court, Kishori Lal Sagar and Sunder Singh Thakur, MLAs, Gaurav Singh, Superintendent of Police and other prominent people were  also present on the occasion.
