The online procedure for the Hajj pilgrimage has landed the Haj aspirants across Jammu and Kashmir in trouble as the continuous communication gag would deprive them from filing the applications to perform Hajj pilgrimage this year.According to wire service Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Minority Affairs Minister (MAM) Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Friday stated that the filing of applications for next year's Hajj pilgrimage will be completely digital and the process will start from October 10.Interacting with the media persons after the meeting, Naqvi had said Hajj 2020 will be "100 per cent online" and a system has been developed to provide e-visa to all the pilgrims. "People can apply online for Haj 2020 from October 10 till November 10. Applications for Haj can also be filed through a mobile application," Naqvi had said.At a time when Kashmir Valley is witnessing a communication gag from last 64 days, the people aspiring to perform Hajj this year have expressed resentment against the government’s decision, stating that the forms are to be filled from October 10, but there is bleak chance for them to file applications due to the continuous gag on internet. “The government should not go for online procedures as the Valley is witnessing an internet gag since long. The manual process of filing the application forms should continue in view of the internet gag in Kashmir,” Ghulam Muhammad, one of the Hajj aspirants said.He added that the government should restore internet facilities at an earliest so that the aspiring Hajj pilgrims in Kashmir would also be able to file their respective application forms.Another aspiring Hajj pilgrim told KNO that in case the internet gag is supposed to continue for a long, the government should then set up a centre for the Hajj pilgrims in all the districts for the aspiring Hajj pilgrims so that they could be able to submit their application forms well on time.“It is for the first time that such a process has been started, the government must not ignore the sentiments of the people and should take a favourable decision at an earliest so that the aspiring Hajj pilgrims don’t face hardships,” he added.
