The Musical Fountain and Laser Show that attracted numerous visitors soon after it was inaugurated in May this year sans visitors due to the prevailing uncertainty in the valley. According to a wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the laser fountain show have been closed due to the lack of visitors and the prevailing uncertainty which took place right the Centres move of abrogating the Article 370 and bifurcation of the erstwhile state of J&K into two Union Territories. All the development projects which were taken on the pretext of promoting tourism in Kashmir and those developments continue to remain hampered and unattended amid the ongoing uneasy calm in the region. Abdul Rahim Dar, a local tourist guide told KNO, "This show became the talk of the town during its launch and attracted a huge crowd during the initial days of its launch in the valley but unfortunately the same show remains closed due to the lack of visitors amid prevailing uncertainty in the region.” He said that he received positive responses from the tourists he guided right before the rollback of Article 370. He further added that “Governor invested great time and efforts for promoting the tourism in Kashmir by taking such initiatives but unfortunately right after the issuance of Tourist Advisory not even a single tourist group visited Kashmir till date.” Ashiq Ahmad, a local visitor from Srinagar told KNO, "During the launch of this show, I along with my family attended the event which was quite impressive at that moment but now it’s painful to see the deserted boulevard road and the event venue which is turned now into a sub jail for the political leaders leaving the venue locked down for now.” He said that the initiative of beautifying Srinagar gave a big hope for the people of Kashmir who were directly or indirectly associated with tourism industry but the prevailing uncertainty shattered their dreams. He further said, "Who would be interested to visit a place, where not only internet service but the cellular communication remains barred even on the ongoing third consecutive month." (KNO)
