Director Agriculture, Jammu, P. S. Rathore, today convened a meeting to review arrangements for procurement of Paddy Kharif 2019 produce and to finalize modalities in this regard.The participating officers were impressed upon to ensure smooth and timely procurement of paddy by the Food Corporation of India.Various arrangements like space, logistic support and necessary facilities for Opening of procurement mandies by the FCI, FCS&CA and Agriculture Departments respectively were discussed threadbare in the meeting.The Representatives of Farmer’s Organizations and Prominent farmers from Jammu, Kathua and Samba also participated in the meeting.Instructions were issued to Agriculture, FCS&CA and FCI departments to give wide publicity to purity/quality standards for Grade A and Common Grade paddy required to make it fit for procurement by FCI at the Minimum Support Price of Rs. 1835/- per quintal for Grade A and Rs. 1815/- per quintal for Common Grade Paddy.It was informed in the meeting that 9 procurement centers for Jammu district, 6 for Kathua and 1 procurement center (Mandies) for Samba are being opened  this year to save the farmers from distress sale of their produce.Director Agriculture asked the participants to explore the possibility of opening additional procurement centers for the benefit of the farmers.Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs) Jammu, B. K. Zutshi, Deputy Director FCS&CA Jammu, Vishavjeet Singh, Divisional Manager FCI, Ravi Shastri,  Manager (QC) FCI, Jammu, Raj Kumar, Area Sales Manager FCI Jammu, Ashish Kumar,  CAO Jammu, F. A. Bhat, CAO Kathua, Arun Gupta and CAO Samba, H. S. Mankotia  attended the meeting.
