Director Agriculture Kashmir, Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi today distributed Pasteurized Compost and Spawn among Mushroom growers of the Valley.On the occasion,  Director said that Mushroom being economically viable for small and commercial cultivators, department is committed to give all sorts of technical as well as financial  assistance to the interested entrepreneurs. He said that Mushroom cultivation is a cottage industry which can generate additional income to the small as well as  marginal farmers.  Director said that subsidy support of Rs. 15000 is given per unit of 100 trays/bags to the identified Mushroom Growers. Senior Scientist Integrated  Mushroom Development Centre, Nasir Ahmad Lone informed that 12 Tonnes of Pasteurized compost has been prepared in the centre under scientific and highly  technical guidance and is ready for distribution to all the districts of the valley where from it will be distributed to Mushroom Growers.Moreover, he said 46 quintals of  Spawn has been procured and is kept under controlled and hygienic conditions in the centre for onward distribution. He further added that Mushroom Cultivation is not  only income generating industry but beneficial for the consumers as a whole because it has a high medicinal value and is beneficial for control of different diseases like  Diabetes, heart ailments and it increases haemoglobin in the body.Project Coordinator Mushroom Deepak Kumar Kuchroo, Mushroom Specialist Ghulam Mohammad  Mir, Sr. Scientist Mushroom Lalmandi Nasir Ahmad Lone and Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar and other senior officers of the department were present on the  occasion.
