Director Horticulture, Jammu, Raj Kumar Katoch today inaugurated Anardana Extraction and Dryer Machine at Ramban to facilitate the farmers for producing quality and hygienic Anardana at their door step Under “Development of Anardana Village” project. CHO, Mukesh Sharma, HDO, Batote Rohan Kumar, PRIs and various Anardana growers present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion Director exhorted upon the farmers to take maximum benefits of project as Ramban district has very high potential of Anardana production.The Director said that this sensitization event has been organized to create awareness among the farmers regarding the use of new technologies in improving the produce besides apprising them of the monetary support in terms of subsidies.He assured every possible support to farmers both in plantation and mechanisation adding that in plantation. He asked the farmers to plant walnut and other fruit trees in their land for taking regular income for farming.He further said they are providing subsidies to the farmers on the purchase of machines as per their requirement besides 50 to 90 percent incentive under different components. Later transfer the subsidy and incentive amount to their account through direct benefit transfer (DBT), he added.During the discussion various components taken up under the project were discussed in detail with the farmers and PRI members. They were also show the Extraction Machine & Dryer procured under the project as per technology developed by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICSR) and Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET).Responding to the marketing issue of horticulture products like anardana, apple, walnut, pear and quince, Director Horticulture assured that he will take up the issue with Horticulture Planning and Marketing Department for its early redresal.Earlier, PRIs apprised the director about their demand including cold store, fruit mandi, he assure them their genuine demands would be fulfill in time frame manner.
