Paying glowing tributes to the great martyr Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh on his 112th birth anniversary, the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana K P Singh said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh was a thought, which would remain eternal.Presiding over a function organised by Acharyakul Chandigarh and Gandhi Smarak Nidhi to mark the birth anniversary of legendary patriot and youth icon Bhagat Singh, the Speaker recalled the unparalleled contribution of Bhagat in the independence struggle of India. He said that martyr was a great thought itself, which would be a source of inspiration for our youngsters to imbibe the spirit of patriotism. The legacy of this great martyr is even equally cherished by the both sides of the international border.Referring to the supreme sacrifices made by Punjabis to get India liberated from British imperialism, Rana KP Singh said that the spirit of patriotism was in the bloods of Punjabi fraternity, which always remained frontrunner to safeguard the country from internal as well as external aggressions. He said that we and our generations were enjoying the fruits of independence due to supreme sacrifices made by our great martyrs like Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. He said that hanging of these trio martyrs was the turning point in the freedom struggle of India, which gave further impetus to the movement. During the event, singers gave a scintillating performance by singing patriotic songs.
