Advertisement for the various jobs in J&K police department has triggered a major controversy with BhartiyaJanata Party (BJP) demanding participation of non-locals citing abrogation of Article 370. The BJP has stated that the rollback of special status has rendered Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) null and void and therefore anybody from any part of country can apply for the posts advertised in Jammu and Kashmir.According to a wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the notification for jobs published by the J&K police, states that “J&K PRC as mandatory requirement” before applying against any position available within the department. However, BJP has reacted sharply on the notification, stressing that the recent revocation of Article 370 entitles every citizen of the country to enjoy the same rights and in this regard the proper changes must be made into this.Anil Sharma, a BJP party member from Jammu told KNO,”The recruitment notification needs to be revised by deleting the PRC requirement as we have already requested the DGP on this and we are hopeful about the consideration of the requested changes so that position will be open for non-locals of the region as well.”He told KNO that the recent move of stripping the special status have opened new opportunities to every citizen of India and that too applies for the recruitment process in any department. He further said,” The requirement of PRC limits the number of applicants and when the India is campaigning about, ‘One Nation One Constitution’ then why requirement of PRC mandatory for job application in JK Police recruitment?”Diksha Singh, job aspirant from Jammu city told KNO, “The prerequisite for the application against the recently published JK Police recruitment notification is justified as the locals of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh are already suffering due to the unemployment.”She told KNO that the non-locals have an add-on as they can apply in any private company and adjust themselves whereas the locals of the erstwhile state of J&K have limited opportunities. She further said that,” There is no need to interfere in the recruitment process of any department as the recruiting officers are well aware about the requirement that is vital for the outsourced candidates who will be hired by the end of the recruitment process.” (KNO)
