Governor Bandaru Dattatreya said that the department of Posts was one of the oldest institutions of the country, which was serving the people with utmost dedication and sincerity and this was why the people consider it as a civilization and culture.The Governor was speaking at a function organized at the closing ceremony of the 34th All India Volleyball competition of the Postal Department here, today.He expressed happiness that the department organises 14 types of sports and cultural competitions every year which reflects harmonization of unity in the diversity of the country and also infuse new energy among the employees and players. This awakens in them a sense of work ability, efficiency, harmony, national upliftment and unity. He said that such events are also effective in strengthening mental balance and keeping the body healthy.While congratulating the effort for organising this national level event, the Governor said that in the changing environment, the Department of Posts has carved out its own identity and has kept its identity going with the technological revolution. 

The department has seen many ups and downs in this journey, but even today the trust of common people was more towards its services. He added that with the establishment of India Post Payment Bank, digital financial transactions have reached far-flung areas of the country.Shri Dattatreya said that the department of Posts was also facilitating the masses through traditional services as well as e-services like Aadhaar Card, Electronic Money Order, Passport Application Process and India Post Payment Bank Service.He presented first prize to the team of Himachal Pradesh, the first winner of All India Volleyball competition, second prize to Karnataka and third to West Bengal on this occasion.The Governor also released a special cover based on the heritage buildings of Himachal Pradesh.Deputy Mayor Rakesh Sharma, Member of Postal Services Board A.P. Singh, Chief Post Master General of Himachal Pradesh Samita Kumar, Director, Postal Services Dinesh Kumar were also present on the occasion.
