A review meeting of Catchment Area Treatment Plan (CAT) in hydro power projects was held with Energy and Forests Departments under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Dr. Shrikant Baldi, here today.The Chief Secretary said that different hydro power projects are being run on various important rivers in the State. The Catchment Area Treatment Plan has a significant role in these hydro power projects. He said that basin-wise perspective should be adopted for fixing the percentage of CAT Plan. In the CAT Plan, emphasis should be laid on reducing silt, he added.He said that as per the directions, 2.5 percent of total project cost is spent on CAT. The stakeholders concerned should be involved for monitoring the utilization of CAT funds.Additional Chief Secretary (Forest) Ram Subhag Singh emphasized on paying special attention to CAT in hydro power projects in the State. He said that the government is not only ensuring development in the State through hydro power projects, but also undertaking necessary works for environment conservation.On this occasion, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Ajay Kumar, Director Energy Department Mansi Sahay Thakur and other senior officers of Forests and Energy departments were also present.
