DDC Kupwara reviews implementation of ban on use of polythene bags

District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Anshul Garg, today convened a meeting to review the implementation of ban on use of plastic bags within the jurisdiction of municipal committees in the district.The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners, Kupwara, Handwara, JD Planning, Executive Officers (EO) of Kupwara, Handwara, Langate, representatives of department of Youth services and sports and other concerned.The DDC directed the concerned executive officers for creating awareness by installing hoardings, paintings on fencing walls of colleges, schools, public places like bus and sumo stands.He also stressed for replacement of polythene bags and directed ECs for making 1000 cotton bags for each Municipal Committee and distribute them among shopkeepers for demonstration and awareness.The DDC also said that Manager District Industries Centre in coordination with EOs will ensure the proper scrapping of plastic bottles at registered industrial units. He also added that in Handwara and Langate, Additional Deputy Commissioner will monitor the overall process of EOs.While discussing the youth engagement programmes, DDC directed DYSSO to complete the process of documentation and other necessary steps and ensure that tournaments across the district are held hassle-free.Later, DDC convened a separate meeting of officers of Rural Development Department including Block Development Officers to review the pace of progress under various schemes including 14th Finance Commission, SBM and MGNREGA.On the occasion, DDC stressed the concerned to submit the photographs taken at the sites of the works and complete the process of first phase of GEO tagging. DDC also directed the concerned to submit the soft copy of photographs of Gramsabhas conducted in panchayat halqas so that the photographs could be uploaded on portals.
