"The modernization of the hospitals in Sultanpur Lodhi, Dera Baba Nanak, Batala and Kapurthala is being carried out on war footing in view of the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji."Disclosing this, the Health and Family Welfare Department Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that scores of devotees are expected to participate in the parkash purb celebrations. It is in consideration of this aspect that the modernization of the hospitals in Sultanpur Lodhi, Dera Baba Nanak, Batala and Kapurthala is being carried out at the cost of Rs. 30 Crore so as to ensure top notch medical facilities to the people. The Minister further divulged that state of the art equipment such as Ventilators, I.C.U., additional X-Ray machines, E. C. G., Ultrasound Machines and Radiography Machines are being made available as part of the modernization drive. Besides this, 12 advanced life support ambulances would also be provided. Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu further added that apart from the above, the beautification project of the buildings of the Government hospitals is also going on at rapid pace with ICU centres already set up at the hospitals in Sultanpur Lodhi and District Kapurthala.Divulging more, he said that the Health Department has prepared a micro plan for providing medical facilities to the devotees under which special mobile teams would be deputed with the inclusion of a Medical Officer, Pharmacist and Nurse which would report to the control room at the hospitals as per need. The Medical Officers have been deployed in large numbers in the hospitals in order to ensure that the patients don't have to suffer in availing OPD and IPD services. The Minister further said that the modernization drive of the hospitals is being monitored at regular intervals and the work would be over by the second week of October.
