Almost all the major sports events continue to remain suspended in the valley due to the ongoing uncertainty and the suspension of communication services (excluding landlines), leaving the participants unaware about the timing and venues of important sports events.According to the wire service Kashmir News Observer (KNO), as the prevailing uncertainty has crossed 50 days, all the major sports events are on a halt due to lack of participants from Kashmir because of the ongoing cellular communication gag. Most of the participants who have registered their mobile phone numbers with their respective sports managers and team heads, continue to remain barred since August 5 when Centre revoked Article 35 A.Sajid Ahmad (name changed), an employee at youth services told the wire service KNO, “Most of the events have been cancelled just because of being out of touch with the participants due to the ongoing cellular gag.”He told the wire service KNO that the ongoing uncertainty and communication gag have forced them to suspend most of the sports events  He further said, “We successfully conducted many events right before the revocation of Article 370 but post abrogation not a single event was conducted in the valley.”Junaid Masood, a budding sportsman told the wire service KNO, “I registered myself for an event which was going to be held in Srinagar but unfortunately due to the unavoidable situation and lack of participants forced the suspension of that event.”He told the wire service KNO that he travelled about 15 Kms just to enquire about the registered event but the same event continues to remain suspended due to the prevailing uncertainty and cellular block-down.(KNO)
