Presiding over the opening ceremony of State level under 19 Girls Tournaments at Janjehli in Seraj Vidhan Sabha area of Mandi district today, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur announced increase in sports grant for organising school tournaments from Rs.20 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh and diet money from Rs. 60 per day to Rs. 100 per day.Jai Ram Thakur said that sports activities were the integral part of our life and vital for over all development of the human personality.  He said that it was heartening to see that girls were striving hard to excel in the field of sports so that they could bring laurels to their schools and the State.Chief Minister said that girls were excelling in every field be it sports, education and even politics. He said that girls have proved that they were no way lesser than boys. He said that the State Government has launched several schemes for the empowerment of the girls. He said that the State has also started several schemes in the field of education. He said that 'Medha Protsahan Yojna' has been launched for providing Rs one lakh each for getting coaching to 500 meritorious students preparing for competitive examinations.  He said that the State of Himachal Pradesh still need to do a lot in the field of sports so that the State could also excel in the field of sports.Jai Ram Thakur said that the sound mind dwells in a sound body, therefore students should also strive hard in the field of sports. He said that the Government would provide all possible help to promote sports activities in the State. 

He said that the people of the Seraj has always given wholehearted support to him during the Vidhan Sabha as well as Lok Sabha elections. He said that Janjehli area was being developed from the tourism point of view. He said that Rs. 1.50 crore would be spend on construction of Science Block in the Government Senior Secondary School Janjehli. He announced Rs. 10 lakh for construction of boundary wall of the school.Chief Minister said that a combined office building would be constructed at Janjehli so that all the offices of Janjehli could be housed in one office. He said that the appropriate Taxi Stand would also be constructed in Janjehli to facilitate the tourists and local people. He said that 20 Solar lights would be provide for Hospital Complex and school. He said that efforts would be made construct indoor stadium at Janjehli.Chief Minister started Ultra Sound Facility in Civil Hospital Janjehli provided by the VARDHMAN Group by spending an amount of Rs 18 lakh. This would benefit about 70,000 population of the area who otherwise had to travel about 100 kms to avail this facility.Chief Minister also distributed prizes to the winners of 'Shikari Mata Utkrisht Vidyalaya Yojna' to the best schools of the area and also provided free gas connection to the beneficiaries under the 'Grihini Suvidha Yojna'.Later he laid foundation stone of motorable bridge on Bakhali Khad to be constructed by spending an amount of Rs. 2.21 crore.Assistant Director Education P.S.Dhaulta welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed various activities being organized during the sports meet. He said that about 693 girls were participating in this sports meet. Mandal BJP President Sher Singh, Deputy Commissioner Mandi Rugved Thakur, Superintendent of Police Gurudev Sharma, Chief Engineer IPH and PWD, Principal of Local School Rajinder Kumar were present on the occasion among others.
