The unique way of earning livelihood by making people of Kashmir laugh has also come to a grinding halt as the internet facilities continued to remain suspended for the 47th day in Valley on Friday.According to wire service Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the youth who have been uploading their content on youtube to make people laugh and earn their livelihood amidst the increasing unemployment in Kashmir have also bore the brunt due to the continuous internet gag.A large number of youth are earning their livelihood by uploading the contents on the Youtube and subsequently, their subscriber base and viewership also increased.Many of the youtube channels have been created by the people especially youth in Kashmir including Kashmiri Kalkharabs, Kashmiri rounders and others. The artists in these groups are making people laugh by their content. Some of these groups have also earned Silver button from youtube as they have crossed a good number of viewers as well as subscribers.
The youtubers told a wire service Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the unemployment in Kashmir has left many of the educated youth worried. “We were also worried about our future but after taking to youtube, we are earning our livelihood by making people laugh. However, from last 47 days, we are not able to upload our content or see what has happened to our channel,” they told the wire serviceKashmir News Observer (KNO).They informed that a youtuber who is registered must have to upload his content within 15 days’ period to ensure that his youtube channel don’t get demonized. “We have worked hard over last two years now but now it seems that we will lose everything due to the ongoing internet gag in Kashmir,” one of the youtuber said.He added that internet facility is must for their livelihood, but the government has pushed them towards the starvation yet again by banning the services for last seven weeks now. “There seems no end to the communication as well as internet gag and it seems we will lose our livelihood as well,” he said.The youtubers appealed government to restore the services at an earliest so that they could heave a sigh of relief and resume their businesses again.
