Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today inaugurated de-addiction Centre at Maharishi Markandeshwar Medical College, Kumarhatti Solan through video conferencing from Shimla.Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister said that drug abuse particularly amongst the younger generation was an area of concern. He said that drug abuse not only ruins the career of the youth but also affects the future of the nation. He said that State Government was committed to eradicate this social evil and has initiated some strict action against those involved in drug peddling.Jai Ram Thakur said that Government was also ensuring strict vigil particularly in border areas to check drug trade from other States. He said that on the initiative of the State Government, Northern States of the country had decided to chalk out a joint strategy to share information regarding drug peddling and crack those involved in this menace.Chief Minister expressed the hope that de-addiction centre would go a long way for proper rehabilitation of the youth who preyed to this social vice.Political Advisor to Chief Minister Trilok Jamwal, Deputy Commissioner Solan K.C. Chaman, Superintendent of Police Solan, Madhusudhan, Principal Private Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Singh and other officers were also present on the occasion.
