550 Sports Kits To Be Distributed To Budding Players During Surjit Hockey Tournament

In order to commemorate the 550th parkash purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji in a befitting manner, the Surjit Hockey Society, with the support of CBSE School association Jalandhar, would distribute sports kits to 550 budding players from across the state during the ensuing tournament.A decision to this effect was taken by association during a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar cum President of the Surjit Hockey society Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma. Extending fulsome support and cooperation to the Surjit Hockey society for the upcoming tournament, which was dedicated to the 550th Parkash utsav o Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, the association said that they would distribute 550 sports kits to the budding players from across the state. They said that this kit would have composite hockey, track suit, playing kit, hockey ball and others. The association said that the 550 students would be selected by the students on the basis of their performance. 

Welcoming the decision of the association, the Deputy Commissioner said that this initiative would give a major fillip to sport activity in the state. He said that the CBSE school association has been playing a pivotal role in the promotion of sports and other social activities in the district. Mr. Sharma assured fulsome support and cooperation to the association for any such noble initiative in the district.The Deputy Commissioner also constituted a committee under Working President of the Society Olympian Mr. Pargat Singh to select the 550 players. The Committee would have Mr. Amrik Singh Pawar, Mr. Iqbal Singh Sandhu, Mr. Lakhwinder Pal Singh Khaira and Mr. LR Nayyar as members. The committee would shortlist the 550 budding players and submit names to the Deputy Commissioner.On the occasion President of Association Mr. Anil Chopra (St. Soldier Group), Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi (CT Group), Mr. Anoop Bowry (Innocent Heart Group), Mr. Narottam Singh (State Public School), Mr. Rajesh Marwaha (Mayor World School), Mr. Sanjeev Madia (Little Blossom Group) and others were also present.
