CEC Leh inaugurates project Tsangda at Pangong Lake

After successful trial of Project Tsangda at Pangong Lake for three months, the project of Secondary Waste Segregation was formally inaugurated by CEC, LAHDC, Gyal P Wangyal.The project is being implemented by Rural Development Department, Leh at the cost of Rs 66 lakhs, shared equally by Hill Council, Leh and Eicher Group Foundation (Royal Infield) under CSR programme. This project will be community run involving people of Maan, Merak, Spangmik, Phobrang and Yulgo villages.The CEC said that the project will have multiple benefits like preserving the beauty and value of Pangong Lake, keeping the environment clean, promote more tourists ensuring upgratdation of economic status of local residents. He urged the public for their full cooperation in successful running of the project and also assured support from Council to meet necessary requirements.ACD, RDD Tsering Paldan speaking on the occasion gave a detailed briefing about the inception of project Tsangda, its present status and future plans and its benefits and successes so far in different regions of the district. SDM Tangtse, Rigzin Spalgon and representative of Eicher Group Gaurav Sharma also spoke on the occasion.On way back, CEC also visited Chushul, Merak and Maan and interacted with the villagers about their welfare and demands.  People of Chushul demanded separate block status, posting of Doctors, adequate teaching staff in schools, upgradation of High School to Higher Secondary School, black topping of link road and to streamline power supply. The people of Merak and Maan also put forth demands that included opening of link roads, drinking water supply scheme, mobile towers, sanctioning of home stays etc.The CEC also inspected the progress of 37 Kilometers long Lukung-Khaksted road along Pangong Lake which is coming up with a good pace under PMGSY at a cost of Rs 36 crores. He instructed the concerned Ex-en to further pace up the work keeping in mind the fast approaching winter months.
